Lichfield residents are being urged to help create a piece of community artwork at workshops in the city.
Local artist Kate Tilley is hoping lots of people will come along to the events which are being aimed at the over 50’s and families.
She explained:
“I will be asking everyone to create pieces based on their idea of home. We’ll be using a range of disciplines, including sewing, stencilling and fabric painting. I will be on hand to guide the groups through all of these, and I’m sure the results will be amazing. All the materials will be provided, and no background knowledge is needed.”
Celia Houghton, Arts Development Officer for Lichfield District Council, added:
“I thought this project was really interesting and wanted to give Kate some help in getting started. I am thrilled we managed to secure funding and I am looking forward to helping Kate at the sessions and hope lots of people get involved.”
The two sessions are the start of a project that will hopefully include art workshops all over the district. The completed piece of work will then be displayed around the area.
The over 50s workshop takes place on March 25 from 2pm to 4pm, with the family session followin on March 27 from 2pm to 4pm – both events are at Lichfield Heritage Centre.
