Lichfield City FC warmed up for their home game against Hampton with a deserved 2-0 midweek victory at Greenhill.

Goals from leading scorer Jon Rob Dutton and Rob Burnside ensured all three points for Dean Gilbert’s men.

The City boss said:

“We played well and I was pleased with the lads’ application. It sets us up nicely for Saturday. Hampton is a massive game. They are a very good side and could easily win the league. They may be below us in the table but they have at least seven games in hand on a lot of sides and have only lost once this season.

“We know this is a hard week with playing Wednesday night and Saturday but we are prepared and ready. This latest win means we go into the game in high spirits.”

Kick-off for Saturday’s Midland Combination Second Division clash with Hampton is 3pm at Brownsfield Park
