Lichfield City FC enjoyed the perfect Easter weekend.

City defeated Perrywood 3-1 at Brownsfield Park last Saturday (April 3) before recording a deserved 1-0 victory away at Hampton on Bank Holiday Monday.

Those quickfire wins mean City remain in second place in the Midland Combination Second Division, 14 points behind leaders Kenilworth Town KH with two games in hand.

With no game scheduled for this weekend, manager Dean Gilbert is hoping his side’s recent run of good form will continue when they resume their league campaign in a fortnight’s time (at home to Knowle Reserves, April 17).

He said:

“We’ve been in great form. To get back-to-back wins over Easter was a massive achievement and I’d like to praise all the players and my assistant, Andy McRobbie, who has been great.

“To be in second place in our debut season at this level is excellent. Long may it continue.”
