Lichfield City FC boss hoping for more of the same

After enjoying a free weekend last time around, Lichfield City boss Dean Gilbert is hoping his troops can pick up from where they left off following a successful Easter.

The Brownsfield Park outfit recorded back-to-back victories over Perrywood and Hampton to remain on the coat-tails of league leaders Kenilworth Town KH.

City currently occupy second place in the Midland Combination Second Division, 14 points behind Kenilworth with two games in hand. And Gilbert is determined to keep the pressure on the division’s pacesetters.

He said:

“We had a weekend off last week, so our batteries should be fully recharged. It was an excellent Easter and that has set things up nicely for the final weeks of the season.

“We have to keep plugging away. Kenilworth are a very good team but all we can do is concentrate on our own results. All we can do is keep winning.

“All in all it’s been a fantastic debut season at this level and, whilst there is still a chance of being promoted, we’ll be doing all we can to do just that. Whatever happens though; we can all be proud of what we have achieved.”

City entertain Knowle Reserves at Brownsfield Park on Saturday (April 17), kick-off 3.00pm.
