Chasetown Ladies 5 ATN Rangers 3

A very mixed performance by Chasetown Ladies saw everything from the sublime to ridiculous.

All three goals that the team conceded were all from defensive mix ups after Chasetown strolled into a three goal lead inside the first 15 minutes. The opener came from a neat through ball from Lyndsey Turner to Charlotte Bull. She controlled the ball, out-paced the defender and slotted home.

The second was a Jodie Kinsey corner headed home by Lyndsey Turner. Player of the match Turner got her second goal five minutes later. A brilliant piece of control on the edge of the box brought the ball down but she had her back to the goal. But she made no mistake as a classic turn and strike saw the ball fly into the far corner of the net.

Chasetown were passing the ball around with confidence and it took only until the half-hour mark for the lead to be extended even further. A long throw in by Holly Cooper was flicked on by Turner for Carly Edwards who had gambled and ran in from the edge of the box, collected the ball and from an angle stroked the ball into the far corner.

But the first of the defensive slips gave ATN some encouragement, as a Chasetown defender was caught in possession. The forward rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into an empty net.

Charlotte Bull scored her second just before half-time. A corner caused problems in the ATN defence and the ball bobbled around for a while before falling to the Chasetown player on the edge on the box and she struck a left foot strike into the top corner.

With the score 5-1 at half-time and Chasetown cruising, a series of changes saw Nicci Barter, Katy Bridge and Jodie Edwards introduced in place of Jodie Kinsey, Sarah Thompson and Sinead Treanor.

Some early efforts on the ATN goal amounted to nothing then Chasetown gifted their visitors two goals through more defensive mistakes, leading to a nervous last 15 minutes with the score at 5-3.

In the dying moments of the game Becky Troth pulled off an important save to leave Chasetown happy with the three points.
