Lichfield City FC 2 Knowle FC Reserves 2

Lichfield City drew 2-2 with Knowle Reserves.

Dean Gilbert gave a debut to defender Martyn Green, who joined the club last week.

The visitors started the brighter and took the lead when keeper Dan Edwards failed to deal with a long punt up field and the ball was scrambled home.

City were back on level terms soon after the break though as James Lawson pounced from close range following some good work from Rob Burnside and Dean Watkiss.

Both teams were then reduced to ten men as Ross Adams and his Knowle counterpart saw red for a fracas in the middle of the park.

City continued to dominate the second period and took the lead as Dean Watkiss calmly rounded the keeper and rolled the ball home.

Knowle rallied however and, following a late scramble, grabbed an equalizer to ensure honours were even at Brownsfield Park.

Gilbert said:

“A draw was a fair result. Knowle have had some good results of late and, after a poor first-half, we picked ourselves up after the break. It was a good, entertaining game.”

City travel to Chelmsley Town on Thursday (April 22)  in the Midland Combination Second Division (kick-off 6.30pm) and are on the road again on Saturday (April 24) for the trip to Droitwich Spa Reserves (kick-off 3pm).
