Chasetown FC Reserves 3 Boldmere St Michaels Reserves 4

Chasetown FC Reserves lost out to their nearest challengers for the league title in a seven goal thriller at the Scholars Ground.

The Scholars came out fighting and took the lead on two minutes, a weak clearance fell to Corey Currithers who fired into the net past Jenkins in the Boldmere goal.

However the advantage was short lived as Boldmere equalised on 10 minutes, a quick free kick from Gonzales deflected off the Chasetown wall and fell invitingly to Clews who beat Scholars keeper John Green from six yards.

The visitors gained the lead in the 40th minute when Green was penalised for pulling down a Boldmere forward in the area, Gonzales despatched the resulting penalty kick high into the Scholars net giving Green no chance to make the half time score-line 2-1 to Boldmere.

On 62 minutes Boldmere’s substitute Walker made it three when his speculative effort from 35 yards found the back of net.

The Scholars pulled a goal back on 63 minutes when Daniel O’Callaghan was upended by Wilson in the Boldmere penalty area and the midfielder picked himself up and duly despatched the penalty sending keeper Jenkins the wrong way.

The visitors made the game safe on 84 minutes when a corner from the right was misjudged by John Green allowing Stone to head into the empty net. Jimmy Welnitschuk scored a consolation goal right on full time to make the final score 4-3 to the visitors.
