A Burntwood community centre has officially opened its doors a £40,000 transformation.

Redwood Community & Youth Centre has been turned around in the last three years, shrugging of its image as an anti-social behaviour hot spot thanks to the work of local groups and organisations.

And the project, which has been overseen by Beacon Community Church finally came to fruition at the official opening on April 17.

The ceremony was carried out by members of the the Redwood Project Youth Committee who had successfully applied for a £40,000 grant for equipment for the building from The Youth Capital Fund.

Pastor Dave Langton said:

“This facility was just a shell – and not a pretty one either – but has morphed into a home from home for many of our youth in the community. We asked them what they wanted. It’s their centre and what is important to them is important to us.”

The Centre and its hospitality team are also available for hire. For further enquiries about the facilities and booking information contact Elaine on 01543 683692 or at
