Call for people to support hall plan in Fradley

People are being urged to support a project to build a new Youth and Community Hall near Lichfield.

Since September 2009 the project to build the hall in Fradley has been managed by a committee of volunteers led by Owen Pontin, the leader of Fradley’s Scouts.

Lichfield District Council has now, however, specified certain critical steps which must be undertaken if this worthwhile project is to reach fruition. In order that additional funding towards the shortfall of £66,000 can be accessed, the volunteers first of all need to form a limited company, and subsequently, if possible, a charitable trust.

The Parish Council has already offered them £165,000, on condition that the District Council and the volunteers have a sustainable plan to create this facility. They have also offered a long, favourable lease for the land on which the hall will be built, but this lease can only be completed once the volunteers have become a legally recognised organisation.

Now the management committee urgently need more people to come forward to support them in their activities to raise money or to help out in other ways.

If you feel you can help them in any way at all, please contact Owen Pontin on 01283 790237 or Parish Clerk Clive Bennett on 01543 444233.
