The Scholars take on Glapwell today (May 1) in their play-off final to decide who will follow champions Mickleover up the leagues.

And Chasetown goalkeeper Ryan Price believes a vociferous home crown could hold the key. He explained:

“It will be a challenge, but the players are looking forward to it and I know the fans are. It is a nice occasion but it can pass you by as we found out last year. But hopefully that experience will help us this time.

“I definitely think it is a 50/50 game and our support will be crucial – I really hope they are loud.”

One player who won’t be making a shock return to the squad for the play-off game is striker Reece Styche.

The hitman was a regular in the Scholars’ starting line-up before he stepped up the leagues to join Forest Green Rovers.

However, Chasetown retained his registration and he could have been eligible for today’s clash. But the striker has dismissed suggestions he could return. He said:

“I’d love to be in the squad, but it won’t happen. It just wouldn’t be fair on the other lads.”

Chasetown’s play-off final at the Scholars Ground kicks off at 3pm. Entry is £7 adults and £3 concessions.
