Shenstone Pathfinder FC had an excellent Bank Holiday weekend following up a creditable 2-2 draw at home to Bilston Town with an excellent 3-0 home win against third placed Hanwood. Saturday’s 2-2 draw saw Pathfinder take an early lead through Jay Dinham, but it was Bilston who went in 2-1 leaders at half time despite an excellent penalty save from Callum Heanan. The second half saw Pathfinder push Bilston back and it was no surprise when Andy Baldwin made it 2-2 with a fine finish. Shenstone looked the stronger side for much of the second half but couldn’t find the winning goal. Bank Holiday Monday saw the visit of third placed Hanwood and Pathfinder were on fire in the first 45 minutes playing some excellent football that resulted in a bundled goal from Andy Baldwin and two fine strikes from the edge of the box by Jay Dinham and Chris Milner. Shenstone remained dominant after the break and could have increased their lead but for some fine saves by the Hanwood keeper. With the final game of the season at home to Dudley Utd this Saturday (May 8) Shenstone have had another good season in The West Midland League Division One. Gary Cantelo said:
“For a village like Shenstone to have a team playing in Step 7 football and being the highest placed side in the Lichfield area is amazing really. It is a credit to the players and in particular Chris Whitehouse. Since taking over as manager he has improved the team and our points tally each season. This is certainly the best side we have ever had at Shenstone.”
