Stay updated on election night with The Lichfield Blog

The Lichfield Blog will be keeping readers updated with the latest news from the general election count in the city.

Voters have until 10pm to decide who they want to represent the constituency and we’ll be at the count providing you with the latest news as the votes come in.

And as Michael Fabricant (Conservatives), Steve Hyden (Labour), Ian Jackson (Liberal Democrats) and Karen Maunder (UKIP) wait for the result, we’ll be your eyes and ears on the event.

We’ll be reporting live from the count from 10pm which you can watch and take part in the discussion on our election page or by following our election Twitter.

You’re obsessed with Mickey’s accountancy expenses. Are you his accountant and you’re bitter that he’s claimed for them and not paid you?

On the topic of the article. Conservative hold Lichfield.

I am talking about ‘ the right honouirable gentleman who claimed he was one of the lowest of the expenses abusers, not that he had misused his expenses. I am a little thief in a big bond!.

I don’t want to come across as a defender of the political establishment or indeed of a Tory MP but correct me if I’m wrong – It’s perfectly legitimate for an MP to claim accountancy expenses for having their tax return prepared. I admit this grieves me, I can’t get mine paid but it’s hardly a “Mickey issue” it’s systemic.

I’ll say this as well, and it gives me no pleasure at all saying this about a Tory. I went to the hustings and the only candidate who I would have any confidence in at all to represent me or to help me with a problem I might want to approach my MP about was Mickey. Politically I disagree with him about almost everything but he is a hard working MP who does what he can to promote the interests of his constituents.
