Midfielder Dave Egan says he’s ready to kickstart Chasetown FC’s campaign next season – from the sidelines!

A red card picked up against Rushall Olympic means Egan will be suspended for the start of next season.

But he’s ready to help the Chasetown fans roar on the team from the stands. He explained:

“It was amazing to see so many of them there against Glapwell and I really hope that we have gained a few more fans for next season.

“I’d still like them to be louder though. In fact, I’m suspended for the first three games next season so I’ll probably get in the crowd myself and start the songs off!”

The scenes after the final whistle against Glapwell highlighted the bond that has developed between the players and supporters at the Scholars Ground.

A crowd of more than 1,200 witnessed Chasetown’s historic promotion – and the scenes are ones Egan won’t forget in a long time. He said:

“The win has finally sunk in – although I’ve only just sobered up! But it really is an unbelievable feeling. I think Chasetown is a great club and there’s always been a family atmosphere at the club – that goes for the fans, players and everyone involved at the club.

“The celebrations after the game were amazing. Players and fans all drinking together in the pubs around Chasetown – it was brilliant. Now we can enjoy the summer and look forward to next season.”
