Lichfield Diamonds were made to work hard for a place in the Staffs League Cup Final by a Stafford team that defended superbly throughout. The pressure on Town’s goal in the first half was constant as Diamonds build up play set up five shooting chances just outside the box for captain Jarvis who hit the target with each one, but found the keeper in fine form. At the back Buck and Murphy worked as a pair to stifle Stafford’s attacking threat limiting them to one shot in each half. Right winger Davey came more into the game as it went on and five minutes into the second half she broke down the right slotted the ball diagonally though the two defenders to the unmarked Palmer to fire home the winner.
