Lichfield Diamonds’ penultimate game of the season saw them playing a Worcester side that needed a point to secure the league title and gain promotion to the Women’s Combination League.

Starting brightly Diamonds took the game to the home side, Shannon Edwards put an early chance over the bar, Karen Clough hit a shot on the turn that swung just wide.

Katie Rose put a good chance wide as Diamonds should have gone in at half time in front. But with a minute to go a goalkeeping error allowed a long range free kick to find its way into the net.

With the lift from the lucky goal the home side had a much better second half but as usual Diamonds never give up and pressed for the equaliser in the last 15 minutes.

With ten minutes left a handball in the box gave Jo Hearne the chance to level from the resulting spot kick.
