Lichfield District Council are encouraging artists from Burntwood to enter their Open Arts Exhibition.

Taking place on Saturday, 30th July to Saturday 7th August 2010 at Chase Terrace Technology College the exhibition is called ‘Childhood’. It is open to all artists over 18 who have lived, worked or studied in Burntwood.

Artists can submit up to three pieces of work to enter the exhibition. They can be paintings, sculptures, ceramics or installations around the theme of childhood.

Celia Houghton, Lichfield District Council’s Arts Development Officer, said: “We have such a wealth of artistic talent in Burntwood and I hope lots of artists once again submit their work. The deadline to apply is Friday 2 July, so artists still have plenty of time to create something new based on the theme of this year’s exhibition.”

Local artists wishing to enter should visit the Burntwood Open Art Exhibition web site.

The main exhibition will also be joined by a children’s exhibition where artwork created by Burntwood school children will be on show. There will be refreshments, demonstrations and workshops available to the whole family.

“We are also asking for volunteers to come forward to help out with every aspect of the event – from setting up the exhibition, to invigilating, through to professional artists running workshops and demonstrations. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact me or visit the council’s website,’ added Celia.
