Karate kids in Lichfield are being given the chance to hone their skills at classes in the city. Lichfield and Districts SKC are set to start classes at the new community centre at Darwin Park. Instructor Patrick D’arcy hopes the new class will fill the gap left by the closure of a club that operated out of Lichfield Guildhall. He said:
“The Guildhall club closed down due to low attendance, but I have been looking around at different venues to replace it and I have been watching the progress of the new community centre with interest.  A while ago I approached the council with a view to running a karate club there, they have been very good and kept me up to date all through the build. “Recently I was invited to a site visit to look at the facilities to see if it would be suitable, I was impressed by the standard of the building, it would be a good venue and hopefully the catchment area north of Lichfield will bring in new members.”
After being impressed with the new centre Patrick has agreed to run classes for children on Mondays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and for adults from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. The classes will start on June 7. For more infomation on the classes and the club, visit
