A new group has been set up to offer support to parents in the Mile Oak and Fazeley area.
Parent Link runs at Mile Oak Youth Centre every other Monday from 12 noon to 1.30pm and provides people with the opportunity to meet other local families and to access useful advice.
The group is open to anyone who looks after a child of any age – be it parents, grandparents or guardians.
Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:
“This parent group is not only a good way to meet other parents and to talk about your experiences as parents, it is also a chance to meet with representatives from local agencies to find out what help and support is out there. The group is free and everyone is welcome.”
Summer meetings are taking place from 12 noon to 1.30pm on June 7 and 21 and July 5 and 19.
Representatives from Citizens Advice Bureau will be at the meeting on June 7 and will be talking about setting family budgets and managing your finances. Heart Felt Holistics, who do holistic therapies for relaxation, will also be on hand at this special meeting to teach parents some useful relaxation techniques.
Parent Link is a partnership project between Lichfield District Council, Staffordshire Young People’s Services, Community & Learning Partnership, South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust, and Longwood Primary School.
