The work of a Lichfield writer is set to be showcased in an unusual setting once more.

My Diet From Hell is written by Phil Preece and will be staged at the George IV pub in Bore Street on July 4 at 8pm.

The monologue was created for actress Della Allen who once again stars in the role of Karen, a woman who has battled with her weight since she was a young girl and who now has new challenges in her life which help her to shed the pounds and hopefully meet the man of her dreams. She tries everything to lose weight, not eating, the gym, hypnotism, even surviving on a diet of prawn cocktail flavour Skips, but nothing seems to work – or does it?

Artistic Director of Nobody’s Perfect productions and director of the play, Paulo Allen, said:

“Della was superb in My Diet From Hell and we have been able to re-stage the piece a couple of times, but, so many people who saw it in Lichfield have asked us to play it here in our home city once more so we are delighted to be able to do so.

“The Backroom venue at the George IV is a wonderfully intimate setting for a piece such as this and I’m sure it will be loved as much this time as it was the first.”

Nobody’s Perfect Productions are coming to the end of their current tour of Phil Preece’s That’s Entertainment which has played to thrilled audiences from London’s West End to Derby and this is another chance to see some of the team’s work in action.

Tickets are £5 and can be booked by calling 01889 584851 or emailing, or on the night of the performance itself.
