Youngsters with a love of all things creepy crawly are in for a treat at two free bug hunting sessions in Lichfield.

Taking place at Beacon Park on June 26 and 27 from 2pm to 4pm, the events are aimed at children aged 3 to 14 years old.

The sessions have been arranged by Lichfield District Council as part of National Insect Week and will allow youngsters to discover which creepy crawlies call the park home.

The afternoon sessions will include tree shaking, checking log piles, and pond dipping – all in the search for plenty of bugs.

Ruth Witczak, Lichfield District Council’s Community and Education Officer, said:

“Mini Monsters is a fantastic opportunity for children to be introduced to the wonderful world of insects. Beacon Park is rich with bugs of all shapes and sizes, and we are expecting to discover ladybirds, beetle larvae, butterflies and pond beetles.”

Mini Monsters is free, but places must be booked and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Places can be reserved by calling the council’s parks team on 01543 308867.
