Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a Lichfield jewellery store. The raiders smashed open the front door of E S Jewellery on Blewitt Court in Bore Street, in the early hours of yesterday morning, (July 6). The offenders took jewellery from display cabinets before fleeing the shop, leaving items strewn across the courtyard outside. A police patrol that heard the alarm saw a blue Vauxhall Vectra leaving the area at speed. The car had earlier been stolen from the Warwickshire area. The Vectra crashed into the police car after it attempted to block the exit to Bore Street and was later found abandoned on the A5127 in Shenstone Woodend. Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Kiley Round at Tamworth CID on 0300 123 44 55 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
