Police are hoping rail passengers can help them identify a man they want to speak to in connection with a sexual offence on board a train bound for Lichfield.

A woman on the 22.27hrs Redditch to Lichfield service on April 28 reported that a man who was standing in the carriage she was travelling in began touching himself inappropriately and carried out an indecent act.

The man, who is described as being in his 40s, left the train at Aston rail station. It is not known at which station he got on the train.

And now British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of the man.

PC Mark Evans said:

“Behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by British Transport Police. The female passenger who witnessed the incident was left feeling extremely upset and distressed. The man we would like to speak to about this incident is described as white, about 5ft 11in, aged in his 40s, of medium build with brown hair and facial stubble. He was wearing a beige jumper and blue jeans.

“I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image to contact us immediately. ”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 345 of 29/04/2010, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
