A radio DJ has been put through his paces in Lichfield as part of a summer fitness drive.

Heart Breakfast’s Ed James and Rachel New took part in the kettle bell workout with life coach and personal trainer Karl Frew.

The radio duo have been trying different and unusual ways to lose weight and tone up for the summer holidays and have so far experimented with Zumba and Wobble Away.

But the Lichfield routine has got the thumbs up from DJ Ed. He said:

“We both agree this is the best work out we’ve done so far. In just quarter of an hour it felt as if we’d burned off more calories than any other fitness challenge – the only down side was waking up in pain the next day!”

After an emergency trip to the supermarket after Ed forgot his kit, the radio duo took part in an intensive 15 minute workout.

Trainer Karl said:

“Kettle bells offer an intensive workout and is an ideal way for busy people to see results quickly. As Ed and Rachel found out it really is hard work, but a 15 minute session can have similar effects to an hour session of other types of exercise.

“Anyone wanting to make big improvements in their fitness or appearance should understand that it usually means a lifestyle change which includes changes to attitude as well as to diet and exercise. Working with someone as their life coach as well as their personal trainer means that I’m able to take an holistic approach to their wellbeing. Kettle bells work well for anyone whose routine doesn’t allow them to spend too long in the gym, and because of its intensity it gives results quite quickly.”
