A charity golf day organised by rock drummer Bev Bevan raised nearly £17,000 for the Help For Heroes charity.

Former Move and Electric Light Orchestra star Bev teamed up with Brummie favourite  Jasper Carrott to start a day of golf and entertainment at Aston Wood Golf Club near Lichfield.

Eighteen teams of four took part in a shotgun start golf competition that was eventually won by Aston Wood professional Tim Reagan, ex-Aston Villa stars Steve Staunton and Pat Heard and former West Bromwich Building Society CEO Steven Karle.

In the evening a charity banquet was headlined by the Bev Bevan Band.

Simon Smith, General Manager at Aston Wood, said:

“It was a fantastic event and we are thrilled to have raised so much money for such a good cause.”
