One of the works by Kirsty E Smith
The work of a local artist is going on display in a historic setting in Lichfield. Kirsty E Smith will be exhbiting her Inventions of the Mind works, made up of mixed media sculptures, at Erasmus Darwin House from July 31 to August 23. And during the period of the exhibition Kirsty will be running several sculpture and textile workshops with local groups, with the art produced in these sessions forming part of the 52 Weeks of Art community exhibition taking place on August 21. The artist – who wll join fellow artist Olwen Holland at the Liverpool Biennial – said:
“My sculptures are made from combinations of textiles, wood, metal and obscure fragments of vintage machinery. Each piece is completely unique, some having quite surreal qualities.”
Admission to the display is £3 for adults, £2 concessions, £1 children and £6 for a family.
