Two men arrested in connection with Chasetown murder

Police have arrested two men following the murder of a Chasetown man.

Richard Deakin was shot dead in his Meadway Street home on July 5.

Chief Inspector Selwyn Burton said:

“The two men, aged 22 and 23, from Bilston area, were arrested late yesterday afternoon (July 20th) and taken to a police station for questioning. They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remain in police custody.”

An ongoing inquiry into Mr Deakin’s death is being carried out by Staffordshire Police’s Major Investigation Department. Anyone with information is asked to ring Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Neighbourhood uniformed officers have maintained high-visibility patrols in the Meadway Street area following the incident, to offer reassurance to local residents.

Detectives investigating the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown have arrested two men.

The men, aged 22 and 23, from Bilston area, were arrested at two addresses near Bilston late yesterday afternoon (Tues) and taken to a Staffordshire police station for questioning. They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remain in police custody this morning (Wed).

Mr Deakin, aged 27, died after he was shot at his Meadway Street home on Monday 5 July.
