Call for families to join free Lichfield to Whittington bike ride

Lichfield families are being urged to get on their bikes and take part in a ten mile cycle ride in the city.

Trained cycle ride leaders will guide the group through the quiet country lanes to Whittington during the ride on August 8.

The riders will stop at a park to play on the swings, have a kick-about with a football and feed the ducks in the canal, before cycling the five miles back to Lichfield.

Councillor Neil Roberts, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Development Services, said:

“This is the second in the series of free cycle rides around our beautiful district. We’re lucky that we have a wealth of cycle routes and we hope lots of people will join in to discover how much fun it is to spend a day cycling with family and friends.”

Those taking part in the ride will also get a free cycle safety check on their bikes by Freedom Cycles before setting off. All ages and abilities are welcome, but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information, or to book your place, call Freedom Cycles on 01543 411633 or Jigsaw on 01543 253666.

Other rides are scheduled to take place on August 22 and 29, September 12 and October 3 and 24. More details can be found at
