Police are hunting a group men who threatened a woman and ordered her out of her car near Lichfield before stealing it.

The incident happened just before 1pm on July 28 as the woman was driving her silver blue BMW X5M along Aldridge Road.

A black VW Golf pulled in front of her vehicle blocking the road. Two men then threatened her and grabbed her arm before ordering her out of her car.

The woman was badly shocked and was treated by a paramedic although she was not seriously hurt.

Detectives investigating the theft said Little Aston Road was extremely busy at the time and are appealing for any passing motorists who witnessed the incident, or who saw the black VW Golf either before or afterwards, to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Chris Douglas said:

“This was a serious and shocking experience for this lady who was simply going about her daily businesses. It is important we trace these vehicles and the men who stole this car on a busy road in broad daylight.”

Police think that up to four men, who are all believed to be black, took part in the incident. The Golf they used was black and had the front VW badge missing. The stolen BMW is believed to have been spotted in Anchorage Road, Erdington later in the day.

Police are urging anyone who was in the Aldridge Road area and may have seen anything suspicious, to contact DS Douglas at Trent Valley CID, telephone 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
