Review: Off The Hook @ Lichfield Garrick

As part of the free evening music which the Garrick has been championing for some time now, the superb blues group Off The Hook entertained a packed Friday night  Green room crowd to a varied mix of contemporary and classic songs.

Their performance not only got people up to dance but drew very appreciative applause from all present. Each musician palyed guitar, either acoustic or electric and rhythm and dynamics were added accordingly.

Highlights included Don’t Wait Too Long made famous by Madeleine Peyroux and the wonderfully creative version of Stuck in The Middle With You.

The evening was eclectic and highly enjoyable as this very accessible group proved that a sense of humour coupled with excellent musicianship is a recipe for success.

Colourful and inventive renditions of classic blues songs have never sounded so good and the atmosphere they created was infective and also seductive. Look out for them again at the Garrick in the near future and around the region, they’re well worth a listen.
