Plans to build a replacement youth and community hall in Fradley have moved closer to conclusion.

The village’s Victorian schoolhouse was for many years the local youth centre and since its demolition in 2008 it has been greatly missed by all the village’s youth groups.

In September 2009 a committee of volunteers was created to organise the building of a replacement hall and after lengthy discussions with both the Lichfield District Council and the local Parish Council, the committee say they have reached the final hurdle before turning their plans into reality.

They are now working to complete the remaining tasks and need help from willing volunteers to assist with fundraising applications, working with the project manager on building details, applying to become a charity and general project administration.

Anyone over the age of 18 who would like to get involved with the project should contact Owen Pontin on 07986 232730 or opontin@jaguarlandrover.com. Getting involved will not only mean joining a supportive team, it will also give them an opportunity to learn new skills, enhance their CVs and enable them to state that they helped to deliver a much needed facility for their community.
