Chance for young poets in Lichfield and Burntwood to win £100

Young poets in Lichfield and Burntwood could be in with a chance of winning a £100 prize.

Organised by the Staffordshire Library Service, the Young Poetry Competition is open to anyone who is under the age of 18.

Entrants have until August 31 to submit a poem of no more than 30 lines, with the winning poet receiving a £100 prize and five runners up winning £20.

County Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture said:

“Staffordshire Young Poetry Competition is an opportunity for those young people with a creative streak and a passion for poetry to have their talent recognised and rewarded.”

Entries to the competition should be posted to Stafford Young Poets Prize, Shire Hall Library, Market Street, Stafford, ST16 2LQ. All entries must be accompanied by a cover sheet including the name and address of the entrant and the title of the poem entered.
