Young people in Lichfield and Burntwood who want to earn while they learn are being encouraged to look at a new website.
The site – www.staffordshireapprentices.org.uk – gives people aged between 16 and 18 information on applying for an apprenticeship placement.
The website lists current Staffordshire County Council vacancies along with all the information needed to find out more and apply.
Staffordshire County Councillor Mark Winnington, Cabinet Member for Performance and Organisation and apprentices’ champion, said:
“This website will be a real help people looking for their first job and want the flexibility to gain qualifications and earn a salary at the same time. We’re absolutely committed to giving people the skills, experience and confidence they need to get on the career ladder.
“We’re well on our way to recruiting our target of 250 apprentices, and we hope that this website will give more people the opportunity to apply.”
Apprentices already work in a number of roles across the county council, from horticulture and technical roles to business administration, catering and customer service.
It is hoped that the website will soon feature vacancies from organisations across Staffordshire – not just from the county council.
