David Grady will take up the role created when Martyn Cheatle stepped up to the position of chief executive earlier this year.

Most recently David held the position of head of finance at Tarmac and prior to this he was chief operating officer for Donaldsons Europe, a property and professional services company based in London . He has also worked for PricewaterhouseCooper for twelve years where he eventually held the role of director.

Speaking about his appointment, David said:

“I am looking forward to playing a central role in the management teams’ strategy for future growth.  I join a well funded Society which is delivering strong performances, in spite of the challenging economic conditions.

“As the UK ’s largest independent retail co-operative, Midlands Co-operative is already a strong player across all of its diverse businesses and I believe that there are significant opportunities to leverage the unique co-operative band values further.

“On a personal level, I am also looking forward to being part of an organisation which believes so fundamentally in engaging with its local communities.”
