The City of Lichfield Concert Band’s tour of Paris has been hailed a success.

Playing in outdoor concerts at the Champs de Mars near the Eiffel Tower and in the Jardin du Luxembourg, the band entertained tourists along with locals at the start of the French holiday season.

The band, under the directorship of Mark Vause, played a selection of classical, traditional wind band, and modern musical show tunes.  Particularly well-received were Viva Italia, a medley of Italian songs, and The Lazy Trumpeter, a blues song which featured John Mansell.

This is the first tour that the band has made since 1992, when they visited Limburg, Lichfield’s twin city. It is intended that the band should tour in that area again next year, and plans are being prepared to ensure that it is as successful a trip as this year’s.
