Lichfield Superbikes star frustrated after luckless Brands Hatch weekend

Lichfield racer Gary Mason suffered more frustration after the latest round of the British Superbikes Championship at Brands Hatch

Once again technical problems left the MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider cursing his luck after rain saw the Saturday outing halted and a brake issue prevented his progress in the re-run.

And despite a visit from a brake technician, Sunday didn’t prove to be a great deal better for the Lichfield man as a stop-start race saw him settle for 10th.

It didn’t get any better in Sunday’s second race as Mason’s bike became stuck in gear and caused him to leave the track after just 15 laps.

The Lichfield rider said:

“There’s not a lot I can say about race one because we had issues and I had to pull in. But with that sorted I felt a lot happier on the bike and that showed in race two. I made a really good start and to end up tenth which was good and I was pleased with that.

“It showed we had good pace and I wanted to improve on that for the last race but, again, lady luck just isn’t shining on us. I’ve never had that happen before in a race and I’m just looking forward to Cadwell and turning the results in we know we can do.”

A volunteer wrote this. Say thanks with a coffee.
