Police are hoping Lichfield train passengers may be able to help them trace a man who made sexually explicit comments to a woman in a lift at Birmingham New Street Station.

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of the man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which happened at around 7pm on July 25.

A 43-year-old female passenger entered a lift in the station concourse to get to the platforms. A man entered the lift and began to make sexually explicit comments towards the woman and grabbed her wrist before the doors opened and he left.

Although uninjured, the woman was left extremely shocked and threatened by the man’s behaviour.

PC Mark Gowanlock said:

“The man’s behaviour was completely unacceptable and I am appealing to the public to help us find him. CCTV viewings have identified a man we believe can help with our enquiries and I would urge anyone who knows who he is to come forward and contact British Transport Police straight away.”

The man is described as white, in his mid to late-thirties, of medium build with short, cropped hair.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 319 of 26/07/2010 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
