Lichfield cyclists have been enjoying the scenery around the city on a guided bike ride.

The group of 19 riders joined four leaders to take part in the five-mile cycle to Whittington, where they stopped for lunch at Bit End Field before making the return trip.

Jeremy Trill, Lichfield District Council’s Regeneration Officer, said:

“The cycle ride went really well. It was fantastic to get so many people together on bikes to enjoy the great outdoors.”

The bike ride was organised by the council, in partnership with Freedom Cycles and the Community and Learning Partnership.

The ride was the second in a series of bike rides taking place around the Lichfield District this summer and autumn.

Councillor Neil Roberts, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Development Services, added:

“We’re lucky that we have a wealth of cycle routes and we hope lots of people will join in to discover how much fun it is to spend a day cycling with family and friends.”

The next ride is an 18-mile ride to Chasewater Country Park and back on August 22. All ages and abilities are welcome, but cyclists taking part will need to bring their own bike and cycle helmet. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
