Burntwood Leisure Leagues football round-up

It was a fine day for three of the mid-table outfits in the Burntwood Sunday six-a-side league with Heavyweights crushing Steaua Needarest 5-1, thanks largely to Dave Sanders and Young Guns eased out Pelsall Predators by a 3-0 margin.

A Chris Owen-inspired PSV Hangover completed the trio and saw off FC Laser 2-0.

There were not so many goals around in division one, with no fewer than three games ending 1-0, but White Horse’s edging of Warriors was perhaps the most important, as it moved them away from the basement and left their opponents bottom.

One Hit Wanderers broke the sequence but maintained their title challenge as they beat The Untouchables 2-0.

Beercelona sit just off the pace in the Monday league, but gave notice that they haven’t given up their title hopes after romping to a 6-0 hammering of Lad FC.

Attack of the Clowns remain deep in relegation trouble after losing 2-0 to another of the high-fliers Burntwood AFC.

The top two both won well in division one. Leaders Drop Outs took the eye with a 4-0 victory over The Bronx Reserves, while the odd goal in three was enough for Real Playaz against Burntwood VI.

Streetly Rangers’ 3-2 victory over Werder Barmen gave them hope of avoiding the division two drop, with Day Release comfortably in mid-table after seeing off Deportivo La Catalent 4-1. The same score was enough for The Students and Jay to beat Team Salad in division three, while Inter will be hoping to avoid the wooden spoon after they upset the formbook against Shire Oak Villa, who saw their promotion hopes take a dent.
