Two men have died after their motorbikes crashed in a village near Lichfield.

The accident happened after their bikes collided on the B5016 Main Street just outside Barton-Under-Needwood shortly after 9pm yesterday  (August 15).

The crash involved  a black and silver Suzuki GSXR 600 and a blue Honda 90N. The male riders were traveling towards Barton from Yoxall.

The men, who have yet to be formally identified, are believed to be a 17-year-old from Burton and a 24-year-old from Tutbury.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

“Crews arrived on scene to find the fire service carrying out CPR on one motorcyclist. Crews took over emergency treatment and continued resuscitation efforts at the road side.

“A second motorcyclist was also found to be in cardiac arrest approximately 50 yards further up the road. Crews immediately commenced advanced life support on scene. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save the two men and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
