A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after coming off his bike in a village near Lichfield.

A ground ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance were called to a road near Woodmill Farm, Yoxall, shortly after 9.45am today (August 22).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“The cyclist, a man in his sixties, hit some gravel at the bottom of an incline and went over his handlebars. He had a broken left leg which was splinted and he was given pain relief.

“He was flown to Royal Derby Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
