Grants worth more than £190,000 have been given the thumbs up by Burntwood councillors.
The Section 106 funding – provided by developers to support community projects – has been given the green light by members of Burntwood Town Council.
The proposals for how the £193,000 will be spent is detailed in a report which will now go forward to Lichfield District Council ahead of a meeting on September 7.
The Leader of Burntwood Town Council’s Labour Group, Cllr Don Isaacs, said:
“It is clear some groups will be disappointed as the requests far exceed the amount of funding available. However Lichfield District Council officers have assured members that they will work with organisations to obtain further funding from other bodies where possible to make up the shortfalls.
“They will also help applicants where members felt they couldn’t support particular projects because they did not fit the allocation rules or had limited community benefit.
“I hope the District Council’s Cabinet supports the recommendations and am grateful for the genuine and detailed consultation we have been afforded.”
