Visitors to the Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park are being promised that there will be something for everyone in the musical programme. The City of Lichfield Concert Band will play popular classics ranging from Disney and Andrew Lloyd Webber to hits from the Star Wars films. Kay Greenbank, chair of the band’s organising committee, said:
“We are really looking forward to warming up the crowd at this year’s Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park. It’s a great honour to perform in front of such a big audience. We are happy to donate our talents for free because proms is such a worthwhile community event.”
The City of Lichfield Concert Band has been entertaining for over 25 years, playing a variety of concerts every year. The band are always on the look out for new members.Anyone interested in joining the band can email This year’s main concert, featuring the British Police Symphony Orchestra and singers Joanne Mayling, Paul Roberts and Bella Musica!, will be compered by Lichfield’s Town Crier Ken Knowles and local thespian Craig Allen. The City of Lichfield Concert Band will play from 6.15pm and the main concert kicks off at 7.30pm on September 4. There will also be fun and games for children, including an inflatable caterpillar, from 5pm.
