Chasetown Ladies 3 Bridgnorth Spartans 6

Chasetown produced a disappointing performance in their first ever West Midlands League fixture.

The hosts struggled throughout the first half and were a goal down in five minutes.

There were chances to score and Chasetown had the better of the play, but poor defending enabled Bridgnorth to go in with a very comfortable 3-0 lead at half time.

Changes to formation and playing personnel were made at the interval, with Abi Picken and Stephanie Powell coming on.

The switches had an immediate effect when an in-swinging corner by Kerry Martin was only partially cleared and Charlotte Bull unleashed an unstoppable stop into the top corner.

At 3-1 down and playing well Chasetown needed the next goal, but unfortunately two more slips at the back saw them trailing 5-1.

But the Scholars kept plugging away and Carly Edwards was rewarded with two goals. The first was a long clearance by Jodie Kinsey that Edwards collected and and slotted home from a tight angle. Her second came after Bull played in Edwards to slot home from six yeards out.

But the goals weren’t enough as Chasetown were eventually beaten 6-3.
