Tourist guides promoting Lichfield have been translated into French and German.

The Visit Lichfield 2010 guide gives visitors a taste of what the district has to offer when planning a day out or a longer stay.

The guide was translated by Katharina Hausser, a German exchange student who spent three months gaining work experience in Lichfield District Council’s tourism team earlier this year.

The district council has now sent copies of the translated guides to their twin towns – Limburg an der Lahn (Germany) and Sainte Foy lès Lyon (France).

Cllr Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, said:

“We’re really keen to develop more links with our twin towns, and the guides are a great way for people living there to find out more about our historic city and beautiful district. This is just one of the ways we are introducing Lichfield to a wider audience, and we hope it encourages more visitors to our district.”

Copies of the guides – Bienvenue a Lichfield and Willkommen in Lichfield – are out now in Lichfield’s Tourist Information Centre, based in the Lichfield Garrick. The translated guides can also be read online at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/translatedguides.
