Lichfield Leisure Leagues football round-up

Ram Sitchards moved to pole position in Lichfield Sunday six-a-side title race as they beat fellow high-fliers The Soldados 3-0.

Elsewhere in the top division a goalless draw between Essentials and Mean Machine did neither side any favours in the battle to beat the drop.

Gumtree FC won promotion with three games to spare in division one – and need just a point to take the championship after a 4-0 victory over Clifton Rovers.

Real Sosobad reignited their promotion challenge with a fine 3-0 victory against lowly Hexis FC Legends.

A tight round of games in the Monday Premier league, but with goals at a premium Street Strikers inched away from the trapdoor with a nervy 1-0 victory over Old Heads as Joe O’Neil proved the difference.

The same could be said for Plough and Harrow, who left Norfolk deep in trouble after a 2-0 defeat. FC PWN were arguably the most impressive division one performers, seeing off Lichfield Unathletic 4-1, although Banana Grove beat Dr Johnson 3-0 and stay very much in the title mix.

The Feathers kicked off the new season in the Lichfield Tuesday league by going nap and smashing Bayern Neverlosin 5-1, but BD’s title defence couldn’t have got off to a much worse start, the reigning champs losing 4-1 to Lichfield Crown.
