Lichfield singing group aims to bring sea shanties to the city

lichfieldlighthousecompanyLichfield may be hours from the sea, but that hasn’t stop one group of singers bringing sea shanties to the city.

The Lichfield Lighthouse Company is looking for new members to join them on their musical voyage.

A spokesperson for the group said:

“For a a couple of hours each fortnight we plan to breathe life back into our lost seafaring traditions, but we can only succeed in this mission if we can recruit enough shantymen and women to have a go at singing with us.

“So if you would like to join us on this musical voyage come and join us.”

The group will be meeting on October 4 at 8pm in the upstairs room of the Kings Head on Bore Street, Lichfield.

We will be running our second sea song / shanty session at the Kings Head on Monday 18th Oct 2010 at 8 pm. We had 18 turn up to the first session and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and we must have made an impression on the Landlord last time as he’s asked us to move to the downstairs bar. So if you fancy exercising your lungs please join us.
