Lichfield RUFC captain Dave Bassett has said his team-mates will have a “real determination” to bounce back to winning ways against Banbury RUFC.

The away trip will provide the Myrtle Greens with the ideal opportunity to erase the memory of their heavy defeat against Bournville as they face an opposition who have failed to register a victory in four games.

Last weekend’s loss came on the back of a historic victory against Walsall and Bassett believes Lichfield need to take make sure they take as much from the low points as they do from the high ones.

The skipper explained:

“For many of the team this is their first taste of life at this level and the realisation of the extra commitment needed against opponents, many of whom have experience of rugby at a higher level, was a salutary experience.

“There is, however, a real determination to learn and compete at this level and a confidence that, having won two and lost two, this could still be a positive season for Lichfield.”
