Chasetown FC boss over the moon with new midfield signing

Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore believes new signing Danny Edwards will be a “great asset” for the club.

And the Scholars boss admits the former Leamington midfielder may not be the final new face to arrive.

Edwards was an unused sub in Chasetown’s thrilling 4-3 win at Matlock Town, but made his debut in from the bench in the 5-0 victory against Bradford Park Avenue.

But Blakemore believes the 26-year-old will add a new dimension to his line-up.

He told the club’s website:

“I am really pleased to get Danny. He has a good pedigree having played League and Conference Premier Football.  He is an attacking left sided player and will give us balance and increase our attacking options.

“I am still looking to add a couple of more players to add experience and strengthen our squad in key areas.”

Edwards lists Shrewsbury Town, Stafford Rangers and AFC Telford amongst his former clubs.

He is likely to start from the bench again tomorrow (October 2) as Chasetown entertain Ossett Town at the Scholars Ground,  kick-off 3pm.
