Lichfield Mysteries author returns for launch of new book

Robert Leach

Robert Leach

The author of the Lichfield Mysteries is returning to the city to launch his new book.

Robert Leach, a noted author, playwright and poet, has already received great critical acclaim for his book The Journey to Mount Kailash.

Robert, who has great affinity with Lichfield because of the Mysteries, offered to do a reading and signing at Lichfield Library, to raise funds for the 2012 Mysteries.

The book is a travelogue – a love story, poetry and song, myths, legends, history and politics. Mount Kailash is the Indian Olympus where the gods dwell. Two people seek renewal as they travel through India from Kerala to the holy mountain of Kailash in the Himalayas. They encounter people, festivals, myths and history on their epic journey, told by Robert in a virtuoso variety of poetic forms and styles, reflecting the vividness of Indian poetic traditions.

Robert Leach was also the first Artistic Director for Lichfield Mysteries. He is a professional theatre practitioner and was Reader in Drama at Birmingham University and Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Edinburgh University.
He has written several books about theatre and published two collections of poetry.

His visit to Lichfield is on November 13. He will give a talk, with visuals and music and sign copies of his book at the Library in The Friary, at 2.30pm.

Tickets, at £3, include light refreshments and are available from annmayo@btinternet.com or jilltaylor@lichfieldmysteries.co.uk. Alternatively, you can call 01543 506826.
