County Council set to take over issuing of bus passes in Lichfield and Burntwood

busstopPeople who will be entitled to bus passes in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded that the body issuing them will be changing.

Staffordshire County Council will take over responsibility for bus passes for older and disabled people from Lichfield District Council from April 2011.

Councillor Mike Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said:

“We don’t want anyone to waste their time filling out an application form unnecessarily, so we’re urging everyone who is celebrating their sixtieth birthday after October 6 to hold off applying to us for their bus pass. This is because the age people are eligible for a pass is slowly rising from 60 to 65 years of age.

“So, anyone who is turning 60 from October 6 should apply to Staffordshire County Council in May 2011, when they will be eligible for their bus pass. However, we are still processing passes for disabled people until March 31, 2011.”
